Specific Responsibilities Would Include:

Position Summary

The position of Logistics –Origin Carrier AssistantManager will report to the Sr. Manager of Origin Logistics and will frequently collaborate with other business groups to ensure goods are effectively shipped/delivered.  This position will have significant responsibility coordinating and directing the movement of full and less than container freight as well as air and international parcel shipments for all Centric Brands divisions, spanning multiple countries, DC locations, including direct to customer orders.

 

 SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage/create/improve carrier costs and allocations through ad hoc bids, rfqs while managing projected/actual allocations and modeling management
  • Lead carrier management ocean/air/parcel with timely booking confirmation, release of containers, onboarding, timely and continuous movement of freight without delay through to end destination
  • Manager all carriers air/ocean/parcel from all origins ensuring timely shipment, release and proactive communications with Centric Brands
  • Study Transit options/strings/routings options (carrier/string/routing) for lanes supporting our business to exceed targets with continuous improvement across all lanes/modes
  • Develop/manage/lead KPI measurement and improvements across all modes globally ocean/air/parcel
  • Hold weekly at minimum carrier accountability meetings along with monthly, quarterly, annual reviews
  • Support leadership in data mining, analysis, proactive solutions to improve performance, oversight and adherence to goals and initiative across the globe
  • Be proactive in identifying potential/upcoming exports/imports risks, including port closures to understand options available with impacts (timing/cost) for utilization of alternatives
  • Support and lead team members to establish and maintain effective communication leading problem solving/options between internal customers, booking agents, our ocean/air carriers (direct and 3rd party) & factories
  • Lead/measure and improve upon baseline metrics, onboard, cube utilization, consolidations (single port and multi country) at origin, best mode/cost utilization
  • Use different external web sites to effectively understand options and performance levels
  • Run reports to supply visibility and proactive communication to/from our divisions
  • If/when issues with a booking occur, quickly find best alternative options given ready dates and ability to load/unload cargo and communicate with appropriate teams noting impacts in clear/concise manner
  • Support as carrier manager the troubleshooting and diagnosis of in-transit issues for the division assigned all ship modes
  • Document, update, and follow and ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures established to achieve high levels of quality services
  • Assist with foreign origin shipping exception cases: Container Utilization decisions, PO ship window and destination deviations, and consolidation opportunities across suppliers/ports etc
  • Proactively resolve ocean and air transit time and booking questions and issues when they arise
  • Prioritize daily workflow according to company’s priorities and needs

Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or a related field required is required
  • 6-10 years’ experience in operations for international logistics (ideally high volume/complex).
  • 3+ years supervisor/managerial experience of carriers and/or employees is required. 
  • Strong English written/verbal, and ability to present in an organized fashion
  • Self-Initiative, strong qualitative/quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Must have strong international shipping experience/background managing team, vendors
  • Strong experience within Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint ability to work in/with Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP, GT Nexus (Infor) is desired
  • Strong leadership experience across internal business functions/departments.
  • Must demonstrate understanding of the supply chain and inventory management, including common obstacles and effective solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple work flows simultaneously
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective time management
  • Excellent customer service and client relation skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime, adjusted hours, or occasional weekends
