Specific Responsibilities Would Include:

Overall Responsibilities

The VP, Operations (Asia) is responsible for overseeing all offshore office activities and supporting the Company’s sourcing strategies to ensure cost-effectiveness, efficiency and quality.  As a key player of the Asia leadership team, he/she will collaborate with business unit leaders to drive operational excellence in the sourcing function. 

 

Offshore Office Operations

  • Ensure the smooth operation of each offshore office, providing a safe and comfortable working environment for associates, with the support of Country Directors.
  • Ensure compliance with local legal and administrative requirements.
  • Oversee the offshore office expense budget.
  • Partner with HR to launch and execute employee-related programs.
  • Encourage continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency at all sourcing locations.

 Functional Leadership

  • Establish a Center of Excellence in Asia for managing Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, and Materials Data in PLM, while supporting Sales and Licensing teams in North America.
  • Under a matrix reporting system, directly oversee vendor order management and country sourcing operations, while also serving as a dotted line leader to partner with NA counterparts for the IT and Logistics functions to drive operational excellence across all areas.
  • Maintain strong relationships with functional leaders to foster inter-departmental feedback and prioritization.

 Team leadership and development

  • Inspire and lead a diverse team of country directors, office heads, and functional directors, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Establish clear strategic objectives and ensure alignment across teams, implementing performance metrics to recognize achievements and identify growth opportunities.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and open communication to enhance teamwork and operational excellence.
  • Support career development by aligning team members' aspirations with opportunities for skill enhancement and leadership training.
  • Drive continuous improvement by enhancing team competencies through training, coaching, and sharing best practices across all functions.

 Business Support

  • Provide guidance to Country Directors to align business strategies with operational efficiency in their respective regions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes to provide management with updates for informed sourcing decisions.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance knowledge of productivity innovations and industry trends.
  • Support the implementation of future roles and responsibilities as functions transition from the US to Asia-based teams.
  • Partner with Business Units to develop robust KPIs to monitor and measure supplier performance across brands, leading quarterly sourcing reviews and supplier scorecard development and reporting.

Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have:

Additional Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field, with at least 15 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management. A master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven leadership experience in sourcing office operations in Asia, with a demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and influence others toward a common goal while building trust within the team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English and Mandarin.
  • Strong financial acumen and a proven track record of driving team results and achieving organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of SAP, PTC PLM systems, and global customs regulations.
  • High ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to doing the right thing, even in difficult situations.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines; highly detail-oriented and meticulous.
  • A hands-on leader who leads by example, demonstrating a sense of urgency commensurate with broad marketplace challenges.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
